Shopper of the Day

East Street shopper Chloe takes us inside her favourite shop in East Street.

Art student Chloe's favourite East Street shop is Perry's

Perry's offers so much choice for  good value for money.
I don't go anywhere else for my art supplies. Says Chloe.

I even love looking at the children's art section in Perry's as it brings back great childhood memories of art projects I did as a child.

I really enjoy visiting the Gallery upstairs and love the peacefulness of the space and think the current exhibition that captures the vibrancy of East Street and its characters is really exciting and I like to see who or what Bob Jackson has captured next.

Perry's is an artist's delight and the staff are so pleasant and helpful - oh and I love my student discount!

World Cancer Day is 4th February

World Cancer Day is approaching.

The team from East Street's Cancer Research UK shop were out and about in town collecting today.  With some spectacular turquoise outfits, they're a hard bunch to miss!

East Street shoppers are friendly and eager to stop and contribute

Even this car passenger called us over to make sure she could make a donation

We battled up the windswept high street in search of lunchtime shoppers in the city centre

This one of the supporting crew found it quite tiring... He's on the bus to Bitterne in search of more contributors up there!

Shoppers of the Day

Saturday's East Street highlights are Louisa and Mike...

They're here in East Street looking for unique stuff - vintage or retro - and high street brands at awesome prices.

Mike's a 25 year old tree surgeon and Louisa's a 23 year old admin officer, here in Southampton. Their local knowledge brings them here to East Street.

Says Mike, "There's a special pleasure in finding a hidden gem", and they're always keen to tell their friends of their successes.

Pleased to see you both - do come back soon!!!

East Street Shopper of the Day

Name: Poppy
From: Winchester

This was Poppy's first ever visit to East Street and she really liked the variety of shops. Today she was mainly browsing but she will definitely be visiting again.

Especially after two random blokes photo bombed her photo in East Street!
What a friendly bunch we are in East Street.

Spotted on East Street...

So as we all know East Street really is a great place to shop and guess who we spotted there today?

Local artist Mark Khan aka Genesis KHAN

Mark was spotted leaving Cancer Research UK where he said he'd been looking for good clobber, well priced items in excellent condition.
Mark is currently exhibiting upstairs at Victor Hugo Patisserie over 250 people attended the opening night of his exhibition in November.
If you want to look at Genesis KHAN exhibition then it is available to view Monday to Saturday 9 am to 7pm.

Speciality Shop of the Week

Hobgoblin Music

Hobgoblin Music has been open in East Street for about eight months now. This specialist folk & acoustic musical instrument shop is a great destination shop for thousands of South coast musicians for the expert advice they offer & the huge range of amazing instruments available.

Please feel free to try anything! Is the motto and with such a range available from arabic ouds to chinese harps - what should one choose to try first?

When I visited manager Drew played me a beautiful tune on the Chinese Harp - what a beautiful sound it makes. The shop is full of so many different instruments and between them Drew and Sam can play them all - they are not just really friendly but really knowledgeable too!

We definitely think Hobgoblin deserves to be Speciality Shop of the Week - if you haven't been in then you simply must - what a great shop!
